_Nettie Juanita Hendrix (Marcum) is my grandmother. Her mother was Nettie Ellen Barlar (Hendrix); her father was Cornelius Brown Barlar; his father was Alfred Jordan Barlow (Barlar). I have browsed your site for several years now; and I couldn't be more thrilled with all the information it contains. Thank you. I am going to get together as much information for you as I can, and pictures, and send your way. I see a lot of our people are not filled in; so I hope I can fill in some of that, if that is okay. I look forward to many returns to your site. And again, thank you for all you have done. Your site is amazing. Sincerely, _Ruth (Ayers) Johns (b: April 1912) passed away on March 30, 2008 in her home state of Texas at the age of 95. Ruth was the g.granddaughter of Wm Henry Barlow (Barlar), granddaughter of Mary A. (Barlow) Ayers, daughter of John Harvey Ayers and Alice (Mussett) Ayers. I have two aunts in their 90s, one in her 80s and an uncle in his 80s. This is all that remains of my grandfather's 11 children. The Ayers line does seem to live long. I sure hope I have some of those genes! I will stay in touch. _My grandmother was a Barlar and I'm proud to see this website. Thanks much. I currently live in Belle View near Alexandria, VA. Any Barlars who are in the area are welcome to look me up! www.ilovebelleview.com _My father was James Franklin Barlow; my grandfather was Jessie Barlow; my grandmother was Amanda of Virginia around the 1800s to1900s. Thats all I know about my family. Thanks. _I am a newbie to the Barlow family. It appears (by my brother's DNA test), that I am descended through the Goff line that was an adopted Barlow. It is yet to be determined which Goff is my grandfather but he would have been in Kingman, Kansas in early 1924. Beautiful website. Keep up the great work. Hope to be adding my father's name soon. _I was last on the Guestbook 4 years ago. My email address has changed since; I'm just updating it. Be glad to hear from any of you. If anyone wants any info from the Middle Tennessee courthouses I frequent them on a regular basis since I'm a Private Investigator; just email me with the particulars. _What a great website. I have an Anna Schneider Barlar in my line. Anna Schneider Barlar was born in 1903 in Illinois and came first to Rossville, Georgia -- Walker County. She was married to Larry Barlar and they had at least one son, ‘Lawrence’; lived in Rossville, GA until 1960, when they then seem to disappear. If there is anyone out there that has information on this line of Barlars, I would appreciate some help. _I am a granddaughter of William Ransom Ayers. My Father, Billy Joe Ayers (William J.), was the last of eight children, born to William Ransom and Myrtle Evelyn Brinkley. I have two children, Brandon William Bartlett and Alexandra Leigh Bartlett. _Nice website. Have spent many days and nights hunting at the old family farm---think I could recognize it in some of the pictures. My father is Steven L. Barlar---grandfather is Isaac Leonard Barlar. I have been in WV for 7 years---I am from Giles County, TN. _Hey Pappy. I like your website. It’s cute. I love you. Haley. _What a GREAT site! My line is the Johnson/Johnston line. Daniel and Celia Cole Johnson married in 1828. Their son, Thomas W. Johnson, is my great grandfather, who was in the same company as John S. Barlow during the Civil War. He lived in Giles County, TN. Thomas is a brother to Amanda Melvina (Johnson) Coker, who is the mother of Zana (Lou) Coker, Barlar. I would like to exchange info and pictures of the Johnson and Cole families and others as well. _What a great job Larry…nice to meet you on the web. Dorothy Browning & Ella Ayers told me about you today. My Mother was an Ayers -- brother to Dorothy's family's father. Mother's brother was John Ayers and they had 14 children -- 3 sets of twins --, and my mother was a twin. Dena Ayers. I will keep watching your Website. _We enjoyed the site. Maw Maw and I looked at every picture! Love, Lauren and Maw Maw. P.S. I didn't see one picture of me Lauren Anderson. Bye. _You have a wonderful site full of information unknown to me until you first emailed me. Your site is laid out well and easy to use. I think we are 2nd cousins once removed. Stan. _Larry, What a great job you have done and are continuing to do. I get on this web site almost daily and never cease to be amazed at all the fine folks I am kin to. I am so proud of being in the Barlow family. Even though I am a Waldrop I am still just as much a Barlow. _Hi Larry, I want to commend you on the fantastic job you are doing on the Barlow website. At my age I look back sometimes and wonder about things like why was the Barlow name changed. As I am sure you know there are some famous people by that name and it goes all the way back to England. My wife Betty's mother was a Barlow. They are from east TN. Do you know where our Barlows came from? I might be very distantly related to my wife. SMILES. _I learned of this website from my father, Rayburn Waldrop, who was told of it by his sister, Frieda Waldrop Cummings. My great grandfather, John Barlar, was known in the family as "Uncle Doc." _Well what a pleasant surprise. I'm Steven Leonard Barlar, son of Isaac Leonard Barlar, Jr. and Grandson of Isaac Leonard Barlar, who had a farm in the Yokely community of Giles County. Your website note regarding the origin of the Barlar name is most interesting. In my teen years, the tale we were told then was that the two old widower brothers who were school teachers had the name changed around the turn of the century. However, if memory serves me correctly, the name appears as Barlow on William Henry's census records in 1850 and as Barlar in 1860. So whatever happened to the name occurred during a decade between censuses. Lastly, I am extremely interested in what you have turned up if anything on our ancestors prior to William Henry Barlow. P.S. my father served in an armored unit in WWII in the pacific Theater and participating in the beachhead invasion of Okinawa. While stationed in Honolulu he was able see Hilo Hattie’s hula dance troupe perform for the troops. Later after the war, while at the University of Tennessee in Knoxville, he was able to actually meet Hilo Hattie. At the time she was touring the States with her dance troupe. _It was a wonderful surprise to find out about your website ...it has answered several questions that we never really had answers for, i.e., why the name was changed from Barlow to Barlar, all we ever heard was, Grandpa Smith said that Uncle Lee changed it, but we never heard why. Thanks for all the hard work you’ve put in this and hope to see future entries. _I discovered Larry's website a few weeks ago. We were both born in Pulaski, TN, know some of the same people, and frequented some of the same places; yet we've never met. There is some difference in our ages, which would account for some of these misfires, but not necessarily all. Small world. _This is a great website!! Great job Mom! _To anyone who has, or knows of someone who has photos of Mary A. Barlar (Barlow) Ayres and/or Alfred Jordan Barlar (Barlow), we would greatly appreciate it if you would get in touch with this site. Thanks! _Greetings from Houston, TX. My name is Lisa. Let me thank you for such an informative site. I used it to compose cliff notes and free essays for my class. Your site is indeed a wonderful source for all my future term papers and research papers. _So happy to have some questions answered about our Barlar family. The sight is wonderful, as it seems we are all so scattered. _Well, what a nice surprise!!! I will have to send some good pic's of Haley & Robert! Looks good dad! Hope everyone is doing great... All emails welcome!!!
